Next-generation living well received in Melbourne’s booming west

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (June 2017. Melbourne, Australia) During a period of substantial growth in Melbourne’s west, developer Kataland’s visionary project Underbank, a 166 hectare master-planned community in Bacchus Marsh, has been well received amongst the local Bacchus Marsh community.

Since launch in June last year, the first two stage releases at Underbank are now 95% sold, with Stage 3a launched ahead of time to cater for demand. Overall, Underbank is estimated to have achieved around 30 percent of all land sales in Bacchus Marsh in the nine months since sales began.

Underbank is located in Melbourne’s Western Growth Corridor, one of the fastest growing regions in Australia, which will eventually accommodate a population of 277,000 people and 164,000 jobs. Underbank, will support this growth, becoming home to around 4,000 people in 1,500 houses, with its own town centre, parklands, plus community and recreational facilities.

“…When I first saw the Underbank site, I was stuck by the rich landscape…”

With buyers from Bacchus Marsh and surrounding area accounting for a third of sales to date, Kataland’s Developement Manager, Mr Allan Carlsson, said the team was thrilled at how the development is being embraced by the local community.

“We ‘re absolutely honoured that so many Bacchus Marsh locals have bought into the Underbank project, highlighting that we’ve struck a chord with the community with our offering-namely affordable homes nestled amongst nature”, said Mr Carlsson.

“It’s because of this strong demand that we’re eager to deliver facilities right at the start of the project so that our first residents can enjoy Underbank as soon as they move in.

For instance, 50 percent of land in Underbank will be parklands, creek corridors and reserves, so we’re aiming to have a playground, walking paths, exercise stations and BBQ areas ready for use later this year.”

Mr Carlsson said that those residents who love to live amongst nature have been holding out for the next land release, River’s Edge, set to come out this June 2017.

The next land release RIVER’S EDGE by Kataland set to come out in June 2017.

“We ‘re really excited about this new neighbourhood, because it’s the only part of Underbank which will be on level land close to the beautiful Werribee River. It’s the most premium part of the development, which is why we’re selling the land via a registration of interest campaign online to meet the expected strong demand.”

Kataland Director Jason Yeap added that the project’s success can be put down to striking the perfect balance between being close to the Bacchus Marsh town centre and offering an affordable lifestyle amongst nature.

“The west is booming. Over the past year we’ve seen housing developments from Melton to Werribee because they offer affordable homes. However, many of these developments are isolated from existing towns and follow the traditional cookie cutter mould,” said Mr Yeap.

“Most master-planned communities look the same – they’re flat and featureless. When I first saw the Underbank site, I was struck by the rich landscape. There’s a natural bowl formation with a valley surrounded by hills, established trees, native shrubs and landscaped waterways.”

Mr Yeap added that supporting the growing community in the charming town of Bacchus Marsh was vital.

“People aren’t just moving to Bacchus Marsh because of affordability-there’s a long string of prestigious schools like Bacchus Marsh Grammar, and it’s only 50km from Melbourne’s CBD. Not to mention, it’s a town with undeniable village character,” said Mr Yeap.

“Most importantly, we have been working with council and the local community to future proof the region so growth is sustainable and the region remains liveable.”

For example, infrastructure upgrades, including the Hallets Way upgrade and pedestrian links to Bacchus Marsh Road, will improve connectivity in-and-about Bacchus Marsh, set to be completed in 2018.

Due to high demand for land at Underbank thus far, Rivers Edge will be sold by registrations of interest online. Visit the Underbank website for more details: www.underbank.com.au
